Q:What are your favorite artists / colors / musicians?
There are so many artists I grew up admiring that have influenced me…but most recently, because art is so easy to reach with the internet, I’m inspired by the amalgam of art that shows up in Google searches, tumblr feeds, etc. I’ve also been thinking a lot about the art of groups…not as something that stands still, but the noise and motion we make as we stumble through our day. Interacting with strangers, filling a to-do list, preparing a meal, picking up a piece of trash on the street, making awkward eye contact with someone on the Metro…the little, private things we do that fill up the gaps between time we spend with people we know. The busy-ness we engage in as a whole with people we don’t know—the things that make a day complete but we don’t share with anyone…this intrigues me.
I’m in a muted phase with colors—lately I’m attracted to dirty ivories, clouded greens, greyed lavenders, and studious blues.
I love so many different musicians…I’ve gone through so many phases in my still-short life and I feel like I’ve been a million people. There are albums I listen to every once in a while because they take me back to a moment in my life. Today I was having a nostalgic mood and listened to some music I loved when I was a kid in Alt-Rock 90s. And right now I’m listening to this.
