Attention all handknits sellers:
I’m spreading awareness to anyone who sells handknits. You are regulated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and you are required to attach labels with specific information on your products just like larger manufacturers do. Failing to do this is in violation of U.S. law and if caught you could be fined thousands of dollars. Not to mention it’s just good form to provide your buyers...

Creative solutions.
Several months ago I made my first pair of thrummed mittens using this pattern. Too late I realized the cuffs were an inch wider than my wrists, and being a novice I overstuffed my thrums and impatiently cast off my mittens too soon. So they ended up looking more like boxing gloves than the pretty mittens in the picture.
I mulled over how to fix my flub. I could unwind the tops and make them...

Slipping Stitches
This is one of my most valued knitting techniques. When knitting a flat piece, eliminate those bumps on the edges by slipping the first stitch of every row.
Doing this stretches out the would-be bump across two rows, giving the piece a cleaner edge.
On the first row slip the first stitch (either as if to purl or knit) and continue to the end of the row.
Then turn your work to begin the next...

Carl Sagan And Ann Druyan’s Ultimate Mix Tape
“The records on board were meant to survive for a billion years, in the hope that some day, against enormous odds, they might cross paths with an alien civilization.”
“‘It was a chance to tell something of what life on Earth was like to beings of perhaps 1,000 million years from now.’”

You know you are typography-obsessed when...
you are plotting ways to change the characters on your keyboard and your dashboard because you don’t like the type.

Gik →
I love the Gik I bought in Buenos Aires. It’s almost full, I want another one!
One thing I love about this is the packaging. You have to buy this for the packaging - you don’t know what is inside!
See video tab 01.

As one who loves science, mathematics, and the arts, it is only assumed that I also love kaleidoscopes. Their ability to convert the ordinary into a bewitching dance of triangles morphing into unpredictable shapes is fascinating! While all kaleidoscopes have the power to amuse, the spectrum of their quality and price is as infinite as their imagery.
I was lucky to find a very worthy kaleidoscope...

Inspired by Craft spaces
I have been following this series, and it has inspired me to rearrange some of my already organized craft supplies. Yes, I organize. It’s one of my favorite stress-reducing activities.
I thought if I took my yarns out of the drawers and put them in plain view I would not only enjoy the extra color, but keep up on my projects. It also serves as a constant reminder to stop buying yarn.

Wool and the Gang shares with us the ladder stitch.
They do it a little different from how I figured it out:
Determine where you want the bottom of the run to be, and make a yarn over.
Knit until you are ready to drop the stitch.
Follow the column of the yarn over up to the current row and simply slide the corresponding stitch off the needle and undo the stitches below until you reach the yarn...

If you need me..
…you can find me under a heap of roving. I think I’m obsessed with thrumming.
I used the aforementioned Cascade Magnum to make a pair of house slippers for little brother, and it didn’t even take half the skein! For the thrums I used the green bits of my J. Knits Our Best Roving in Honolulu. I love leftovers. Our Best Roving is really the best roving I’ve...
This is sad. Today is the first day I have gone without knitting since I learned how to knit. Why? I feel ill.. I can handle the runniness and the sore throat, but this whole draining-of-energy-and-spirit thing must be gone.. NOW.
