Short Rows in Knitting →
This is one of the best pictorial explanations of short rows I’ve seen. It even includes a tutorial on Japanese short rows, which I plan on mastering this evening for my Brownstone pullover.

Today I might be wearing
Monkey socks, my chunky Quoddy boots, pants, a dress, a shirt, a sweater, a Bandana Cowl, and a Snail Hat. I might also look like a crazy knitter. I love chilly weather.

Check out this site for all things wool. Lots of facts and stories that make me love those fluffy, yarn-bearing animals even more.

Lately, I've become enchanted
with the idea of reducing, reusing. Using what you’ve got. Going through old things, and either giving them inspiration through a new home or a new use. I decided it was time to retire some of my handknitwear, so I was happy to give gift it to people who want it more than I do. It served its purpose in my life—learning a new technique, or keeping me warm one fall. I’m excited to...

thebrassknuckles: I just finished teaching another sewing class and my brain is fried. I forget how many little things I know that I don’t have to think about that others have to learn. Drop your foot before you start sewing! “Foot” has two meanings! You don’t have to turn your machine off & back on after each line of stitching! Back-stitch over ends! Don’t sew your finger! ROFL.

Socks are the coolest things to knit.
I went a while without making socks, and now it’s all I want to do! I had to get a second skein to finish Damson no. 2 (not that my arm had to be twisted), and the yarn is a dream! I used Dragonfly Fibers Dijinni Sock in Sleepy Hollow, and switched over to That Old Chestnut when I ran out of yarn, which conveniently was right before I started the edging. Nope, I didn’t check my...

Wearing a not-quite-dry sweater
because I just can’t wait! This is Pole (Rav), which I started in February but put down for a while as I was consumed with other projects. An interesting pattern with lots of easy stockinette stitch, a perfect in-between project. (That is, if you like having several projects going at once!) Knitted in the notoriously pill-y Malabrigo Worsted, but I fell in love with the colorway so I...

I can't get away from yarn.
I’m flipping through the latest Home Design issue of New York Magazine, and I open a page plastered with crochet. I Yarn-Bombed This “An insatiable crocheter makes sweaters for bikes, teapots, and entire apartments.” Photo nymag.com Read the article

How many nights have you stayed up late,
furiously knitting to finish that thing you so badly desire to throw around your shoulders? Go to bed. You ain’t knitting 200 yards in the next 2 hours. #notetoself

Under what circumstances,
if any, is it acceptable to make a hot pink shawl? (any & all.) I’ve been eager to make Juneberry Triangle by Jared Flood and I have a stash of hot pink yarn that was an impulse buy. Like, a sweater quantity. I’m thinking project idea of lacy cardigan isn’t going to happen for a while, so I may as well start on the Juneberry while I’ve got the gumption for it. What...
